Two hotels with a total 413-rooms, will open in 2017 at The Wharf. Canopy by Hilton will include 175 rooms, and Hyatt House will feature 238 rooms. Both hotels will be operated by Concord Hospitality Enterprises Company.

Madison-Marquette and PN Hoffman & Associates, Inc. are readying their $1.5 billion Wharf District project (Southwest Waterfront, Washington DC) development for groundbreaking in 2013. The mixed-use project will include 3.2 million square feet of space on 28 acres, including offices, apartments, an InterContinental Hotel, and public facilities including four piers and a 3-acre park.
The developers intend to transform the existing waterfront into a destination place on similar to the Embarcadero in San Francisco and Pike’s Place Market on Seattle’s waterfront.
The Washington DC’s Southwest Waterfront Redevelopment Bond Financing Act of 2008 provides $148 million worth of related infrastructure improvements along Maine Avenue. The District Department of Transportation (DDOT) last July began rehabbing parts of Maine Avenue in advance of the Wharf project.
According to the company’s website, Madison -Marquette controls over 23 million square feet of retail real estate throughout the U.S. Marquette-Marquette was founded in 1992.
Since 1993, PN Hoffman has been developing upscale residential condominium and mixed-use properties in the Washington, D.C. area.
